What is spongy seaweed?

by Jeff
(Urbana, IL)

It is an ingredient in a Korean kimchee recipe, but I am not sure what kind to buy.

I was surprised to see that your kimchi recipe contains seaweed so I checked online. I love kimchi but never made them at home. This is really interesting! Most of the recipes I found didn't contain the spongy seaweed.

Please send me the link so I can check it out. You got me curious!

The seaweed added in kimchi is sponge seaweed. You can probably get this at Korean food stores. Another name for this is codium.
